Weight Loss Update Goose Egg
Yep, goose egg. Nada, zero, ziltch whatever you want to call it, that is what I lost this week. NOTHING!!!! Am I happy? Well, I am happy that it wasn't a gain. I definitely know that I have to make some corrections. At least I can say I didn't go crazy pigging out. I do need to get back to more salads. I also need to be stricter on my portions. On the exercise side of the equation, I know I must spend a little more time either walking or on the elliptical. Although I realize I wasted a week, I am not going to whine about. (Maybe I am whining a little by writing this lol) I like to think of this as simple math. I burned all the calories I took in. I know what I need to do to fix the problem. I just need to do it. This isn't rocket science, but it is mental. And difficult. I did learn one thing though. When I do reach my goal of being not fat, the journey doesn't simply end as I guess I might of thought when I had first started. Now I see that just maintaining is going to be in itself a journey. A life long journey at that.

You didn't exercise like you should have. You didn't eat like you should have. This is typical of us fat people trying to get thin. We know why we didn't lose weight but we are still mad about it :-) You did not waste a week. You have learned that the effort must be consistent. These changes must be permanent in order for the weight to stay off once it is lost. Believe me I know this scenario all too well.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, what Downsizer said. :} sigh.

Maintenance will be here waiting for you Paul. You will notice that it's a completely different ball-game once you're in that stage; but for now, all you have to do is concentrate on taking things one day at a time. As many a maintainer has said: losing is the easy part. Keeping it off is what's difficult. The good news is that you'll have all the support you can handle all the way down to goal, because there will always be someone who has walked in your shoes :)
ReplyDeleteIt's all a learning experience on this weight loss journey. As long as you don't waste the lesson it's all good! One day at a time. Maybe you lost inches rather than saw a visible difference on the scale?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking that a goose egg is better than gaining. :) Just keep working on it and you'll have a good week next week :) Make the changes you described and it will happen!
ReplyDelete@fatgirlwearingthin You wrote, "As many a maintainer has said: losing is the easy part. Keeping it off is what's difficult." This didn't dawn on me until this week. I naively thought that once I was thin all of my cravings and bad habits would be gone.
ReplyDelete@downsizers Yes, but consistency and I have never been close friends. ;)
ReplyDelete@Fatoutofskinny Thanks for the kind thought, but unfortunately I think I need to lose about 100 pounds in order to see some change. LOL But no worries-I am learning so much as I go along.
ReplyDelete@Maren Oh yes a goose egg is much better than gaining. I am determined not to go backwards and give up hard fought over ground!!!!
ReplyDeleteI cant even fathom the process of maintaining.. maybe this is why i dont get overly gung ho about my losses when I weigh in.. because I know theres much more ground to cover and the life long journey will just continue. We gotta keep our wits up :0)
ReplyDelete@Carbie Girl Yes the worries of maintaining are very distant for me LOL. I look at my journey in terms of at least now I care about what I'm eating. Before I started my journey, I scoffed at such thoughts.
ReplyDeleteDon't be too disappointed mate, you know what you've gotta do this week to see a loss, now prove to yourself that you can do it. We all believe in you!
ReplyDelete@Tim Thanks Tim, your support means so much.
