Little Changes

I have made a few little changes around here.  First, I have added a Facebook link on the right.   I also added a spot for video on the right.  I currently am calling it Paul's Diet Tip 'O the Week.  (silly, right?)  This is where I want to share a diet tip that I am currently using.  It may be a product or simply an idea, just something that has been helping me in my journey.

Here is my Week 18 Weight Loss Vlog.  In it I talk about two non-scale victories I have experienced.  I want to say thank you for stopping by.  I really enjoy this blog and realize it would not be fun if no one read it. Not only do I get the accountability aspect from you all, I get motivation and inspiration from you as well.   I also am out and about reading your blogs and trying to comment if I can think of anything to add.

  1. I so agree with you on the behavior change method and eating healthy. I would like to design a challenge with you if you can think of a way to do it. What about a challenge that builds and adds on week to week and is all about behavior changes. I thought the first week would be just getting in 64 oz. of water each day. Whatever else each person wants to do is up to them but the water consumption is the goal for the first week. The following week would be the water AND exercising 3 - 5 times a week. I thought the third week would be "coasting" to let those first two behaviors become normal. The fourth week would be the water, the exercise, and perhaps not eating in the car. We could get suggestions from people as to the behavior changes after weeks one and two because those are pretty much universal things to be done. Maybe the fourth week could be getting in at least two servings of vegetables a day? This challenge could maybe be just 6 weeks long and people would only weigh once at the beginning and once at the end? Any ideas? I am with you on the carbs - I never thought I would see the day when I could take or leave sweets and did not miss bread. That is so great. Take care.

    1. This sounds like fun, Myra. Seems like you have it well thought out if you ask me. Shall we start tomorrow Jan 19? I will start keeping track of my water. 64 ounces seems like a lot, but I have never actually counted before. Do we we count tea and coffee???

  2. Paul and Maren - I think we could do 6 week Behavior Blasts. We count only water the first week (and thereafter). Tea and coffee do not count. I have a 32 oz. water bottle that I drink two of each day. When people do their challenges they have ways for people to report and link to their blogs for their updates and have charts to keep track of what people do. Paul - let's start tomorrow with the 64 oz. per day. I usually weigh on the first day of the month so maybe we could just make the water our goal for the first week. The recommended amount of water per day is 8 - 10 glasses so that would be 64 oz. - 80 oz. per day. Email me your number of oz. per day and I will put it on a chart. You too Maren if you want to join us.

  3. Paul, wonderful post!
I also think this challenge listed above sounds rather interesting I would like to also give it a go, I would like to see how well my behavior changes after a month or so.

    1. Sounds great. We are starting tomorrow Jan 19. I don't think I usually drink that much water, so it will be a change for me!!
