  1. I wish I had all the right answers for you Paul. But I struggle too. It sounds like you are cutting out a lot of foods. Your bodies needs all kinds of food be careful cutting out to much. Exercise, and keep making healthy food choices. Is the only advice I have, but it sounds like you know that. Best of luck finding what works for you.

    1. Thanks, It really helps to know I'm not the only one that struggles. I am just keeping it honest.

  2. When I plateau I start calorie cycling... I figure out how many calories I need in a week. Then I eat more on one day like... 2000 calories in one day. Then I will eat something like 1000 the next day... then 1200, then 1700, then 900, then 1500 again. Sometimes I put a fasting day in there.

I also kick it up in my work outs. I try something new for a week. Or switch what time of day I work out. Or swap out a cardio with a weight session. I work out harder and then give myself a good rest day every other instead of just once a week.

There's a lot of good things happening with High intensity interval training. It creates some muscle confusion. You're constantly moving and changing what you're doing. Throw your body off!

Gotta be careful of eating too much fruit! You're instincts are totally right. You can get too much sugar from eating fruit. Higher sugar in fruits raise your insulin production. I like to use fruits mid day after I've already started eating so I'm not spiking my insulin in the morning. Up the veg. Up the lean meats. Beware of salt.

A juice fast/reboot can help (fat sick and nearly dead documentary on netflix). I had a stupid 5 week plateau last semester. I believe it was also tied to my birth control, which I'm pretty sure isn't part of what you're experiencing.

    1. Thanks for the great points. I am just now starting to watch the fruit. I know I get way too much salt, I need to work on that for sure.

I loved Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. I bought a juicer and love it. My wife and I were just talking about why I haven't been juicing lately. I think I just got out of the habit. I need/want to start again. I will make up a batch today. (Memo to myself: I should film it for a future video lol) Thanks so much Nanette!

    2. Good luck on your new beginnings. Will be watching how it goes! Juice sounds pretty healthy.

  3. Daggone it Paul! I could make that video - just change the weight from 280 to 180 and yep, there I am!

I bet you do like I do -- look at your body and think "Really? What...the ... freak is going on? There is PLENTY of weight to lose still!!"

Up the cardio, change up the cardio, calorie cycle, juice fast, I do all those things, everything jump starts for a bit, then I'm back to a plateau.

I'll tell you this though, WHEN I get to my target weight, I will never ever do this to myself again..... I can go the rest of my life with no pizza, no pasta, no burgers, no fries. i can't do this again.

    Hang in there !

    1. You are so right there. I will never do this again. You know the weight just kept creeping on over 20+ years. My ONLY bright spot is I can maintain like crazy once I get to goal. My problem is the carbs--but dang it I like the carbs :-(

  4. I know this is going to sound funny Paul but have you tried Zumba? My friend JJ had a lot of issues with plateaus and favorite foods sneaking back on him and he started Zumba and it pushed him over the plateau and on to success bc the cardio was so varied and fun. :) Great to follow you! :)

    1. Oh, that doesn't sound as funny as I would look doing Zumba LOL! No I haven't even thought of that. I should get a DVD and try it. My kids will just love seeing that! Actually it is a really good idea. Thank you!!

  5. I think changing things up is the way to go. Experiment with different calorie levels, try new exercises. You can push through!

  6. If you want to do low carb, eating fruit is going to make things difficult. The good thing is that you can have pretty much unlimited vegetables (cost permitting). I'm doing low carb myself and I haven't had fruit in weeks. I miss it, but that's the way it goes, I guess.

    1. Yeah, the problem is I have been using fruit to ween off of bread/pasta lol. I can't win. There are carbs everywhere! Unfortunately, I love them. This is not going to be easy. Thanks for your comment!

  7. Sounds like your body's in a stabilising stage. It's stabilising from the weight you have lost. I am going through that too.

If you're looking for a bit of a change I would suggest undergoing the Dukan Diet. It has really helped me and it's really easy to follow.

    1. Yes I think you are right. I just looked up the Dukan diet online. I need to read more, but I would say I have started a similar path with more meats, less carbs. I seems easy enough, I like it so far.
