Weight Loss Update - Breakthrough

First some history:  I had been on my journey for about four months.  I had lost 25 pounds.  Not a huge loss, but a good start.  Then I hit a plateau, a stall, a weight loss brick wall.  Maybe I was lax around the holidays.  Maybe it was the weather turning nasty.  Maybe, I was just a little bored with the journey.  I simply don't know, but I started going off the proverbial weight loss rails.  I didn't go crazy and start pigging out, but I was not as strict as I had been.  I just wasn't fighting as hard.  And it showed.  I weighed several times a week and for a month I sat between 287 and 284.  I wasn't really gaining, but I certainly wasn't losing either.  My mind just was not in the game.   I wasn't doing what I needed to do to lose, and I knew it.

About a week ago, I mentally checked back in.  I knew I didn't want to give back any hard fought for ground.  The pounds are too hard to lose to let them just creep back on.  I had to make some changes, but the desire had to be there first.  I had to WANT to lose weight again.  I had to want it bad enough to give up coasting.  In the video, I talk about my progress and some of the changes I made.  Have you found that this game is mental?  What changes did you have to make to get going on your journey.  I love reading your thoughts!!!

  1. You are absolutely right. If we can get our minds in the game, we are going to win. When we resign ourselves to a life change that is permanent, the weight will come off and stay off. This is not temporary just until we get to our goal weights - it is a new way of life that will also keep the weight off. I, personally, am sick and tired of the way I have behaved when it comes to food and eating. I have made it an idol. No more. You will soon be in the next digit and you will get there because your life does not revolve around food and eating anymore. There's a lot more to life than that. I am so glad you have learned a good lesson that will guide you on to goal. Well done.

  2. It is absolutely more difficult when you don't see the progress you want. It can be depressing, too. It isn't until we learn from these exact lessons that we can further our progress. It's all about trial and error, Paul. Now that you know what works, you'll keep pushing ahead. Major congratulations on getting down to 282!! Woo-Hoo!!

    1. Thanks for the continued support. Yes, it certainly can be depressing, and of coarse, the easiest thing would be to quit. I am so thankful for the accountability of readers/viewers like you!!

  3. So glad you've broken your plateau. It's great that you've realised why you weren't losing weight and have got your head back in the game. Sometimes we need to sit back and reassess things. Well done, Paul. Good luck for the next week x

  5. I did great for about 6 months, and then started slacking off - I'm not sure why either, but, I think, I just got tired of thinking about food and exercise. I felt consumed by it! I'm still having a hard time getting back in the game, but I refuse to give up. I have a long way to go, so quitting is not an option - I need to get healthy. Glad to hear you're getting back on track!!

    1. That is it, Shannon. I too just got tired of worrying about it all. I got lazy. I basically took off a month. Anyways, I hope you can find the spark you need to get going again. I am glad to hear you are determined to not give up. Our health is just too important.
