Well guys, I am sorry I have been away from blogging for a few days. It kinda feels like forever! I have to somewhat blame the unseasonably nice weather we are having in Michigan,
I just wanted to share some good news. I had to go to the doctor Monday for my yearly physical. To say my Doc was pleased with my weight loss would be an understatement. It's kinda funny they keep entering my new weight into the computer, and the computer keep asking them to verify the reading was correct because it is a big change in weight. So officially a year ago I was 329, as of today at the office I was 284 with clothes on. That is a total of 45 pounds gone. Not bad since I only really got serious since six months ago.
I thought that was some pretty cool news, but it only got better. As many of you know, I have been taking medication to treat my diabetes for years. Well today,my A1C, (which is a glucose test for diabetes) was well into the normal range. Diabetes pills are now history for now (per Dr's orders)! I am glad because I was only taking half my prescribed dose anyway. See, when I really watch what I eat and exercise, my sugar would get too low.
So yesterday was a day that was hard to beat. Now I share this not in a bragging sort of way , but to encourage and motivate you. Now I just need to keep up the progress, or should I say break this current stall. I have to get out of the 280's or bust! I'll see you all soon, but for now I am off to enjoy some beautiful weather. It is so warm here in Michigan for this time of year, I feel like I'm living in the South!! I love it. Maybe I'll start saying "y'all" ;-) Do y'all have any good news to share. You know I love to hear from y'all!
That is great news!!! Great job, and I hope you shock him even more next year :)
ReplyDeleteLOL me too!! Thanks!

DeleteI am so happy to read this Paul! You are extending your life and the time you have with your family. I know you have to feel better and are encouraged to stay with your program. This has made my day!
ReplyDeleteWell thank you Myra! I does make a person feel like they are doing something right!
Deleteyou earned those bragging rights! own it! hahaha. that is awesome and most definitely motivating!!! i love that sooo much! just goes to show that it's possible.
ReplyDeleteLOL well thanks. I'm not a bragging kind of guy, but I do desperately enjoy the thought of motivating others!! Thanks for your support!!
DeleteThis is so awesome. It is amazing to think that by making changes in your life you were able to heal your body and get off that medication. Truly unbelievable. This is a huge testimony to everyone out there that diabetes does not have to mean the end of the road. I just love that you took control and made something amazing happen in your life. HOw inspiring!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Holly. I hope many people can be encouraged to try to improve their health as well.
DeleteThat is some FANTASTIC news! You are really changing your life for the better!!
ReplyDeleteYes, and hopefully adding to it as well!!
DeleteSeriously awesome news Paul. Glad to hear that your weight-loss is starting to have a positive effect on your existing health ailments eg: your diabetes, it goes to prove that things are moving in the right direction for you and will only get better.
ReplyDeleteWell done mate & I agree with Holly (comment above) Very Inspiring!
Thanks for your support all this time, Tommy!!
DeleteCongrats! My boyfriend has diabetes and has been having trouble with low blood sugar that the Dr's don't seem to be concerned about but he never seems to feel well. He eats better too so maybe he needs to cut back on the meds, I'm going to tell him to push his Dr's more into checking if that's ok for him to give a try! It's so awesome that you don't have to take the meds, hopefully all goes well & it's permanent:-)
ReplyDeleteOh I hate, hate low sugar. It is not only scary, but really dangerous. I always told my doctor and he agreed, I would rather run a little high than get low!! I would for sure tell the doctor about how often it happens.
DeleteWahoo!!! No more meds! You're doing so well. I hope that every doc visit goes as swimmingly. Keep working hard and I'm sure you'll be able to stay free of the meds.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I still have a long ways to go to get to my goal weight!! But for now, wahoo indeed!!
DeleteI have benn thinking I am in the south too, it is only making retirement look that much better! And of corse congrats on the awesome weight loss.
ReplyDeleteI am loving it while it lasts. Today we hit a record high of 81 vs the old record of 73!!

ReplyDelete45 pounds lost in a year is amaze, Paul. You should be jumping up for joy. Well done. I'm so happy for you that you are off your diabetes medication. That is fantastic. You should be really pleased about that. Continue going. You've done so well so far. You can do this. You will get where you want to be :)
ReplyDeleteWell I really appreciate your support!!
DeleteThat is awesome that your doc was so impressed. Great job on the loss. My doctor and nurse didn't recognize me and thought I was a different person because I had lost so much from one visit to another. It had also been over a year!

ReplyDeleteYes, you know it finally dawned on me we should do all we can do to get healthy. Bad things can still happen, but at least we would know we did what we could. If that makes any sense lol. Thanks!
