- Are you at least 18 years old?
- Have you been participating in a weight loss program for the last 5 consecutive weeks?
- Have you been in a committed, cohabitating relationship for the last two years?
- Do you ever feel like your current partner/spouse gets in the way of your weight loss?
Besides helping to advance scientific inquiry on this topic, each participant who completes the survey may also select to have $1 donated by the researcher to the participant’s choice of 1 of these 5 charities: Playworks, The Carter Center , Teach for America, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, or MAP International. Additionally, participants may opt to enter a drawing for 1 of 10 gift cards (one $100 card and nine $25 cards). The survey should take between 30-45 minutes and the responses cannot be tracked back to you.
I told Amanda I would gladly take her survey, but I do not meet the parameters. Fortunately for me but unfortunately for the survey, my wife is supportive and encouraging in every way of my weight loss. She also is trying to lose weight and is doing really well. In fact I affectionately call her "the carb buster" because she is the driving force of limiting carbs in our house.
I know how hard it is to lose weight even with a supportive spouse, I cannot imagine how hard it must be if you have a spouse that is sabotaging your efforts. If you find yourself in this situation, why not help Amanda transition from being Amanda to being Dr. Amanda and take her survey. All the information you need is here.
Awesome that you have the support of your wife! My hubby supports me w/o issue, but he does think that I'm also "fine" where I'm at ... which is nice too!

It is nice not to have the pressure of knowing your spouse is unhappy with you. That would be tough.
Deletevery interesting!! but sadly, my hubby is the best work out buddy a gal could ask for.
ReplyDeleteYes, sad for her survey, but good for your marriage!
DeleteSounds like fun, but here also my hubby is very helpful.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear there are some good husbands out there!
DeleteI agree...losing is hard. And it would be twice as hard without a spouse's support. Glad my Hubby is on the good side and not the dark side of supporting.
ReplyDeleteI also was no help to her since my hubby is my biggest cheer leader. Glad that you have a supportive partner as well. It makes all the difference:)
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for taking the time to read this post. I appreciate you all!
ReplyDeleteHi Virtual Paul! So glad you have a carb busting wife. It DOES make things so much easier not having a saboteur under your roof. I look forward to reading your blog and watching you lose your weight! (I saw you over at Kara's - "Can I learn to think like a thin person" LOVE her!)
ReplyDeleteit is fun to have a man's perspective. My husband is intolerably naturally thin. Brat-O!
I bet he is one of those people that can eat whatever and as much as they like. NOT FAIR LOL!!
DeleteI'm so fortunate that my husband is understanding about my food and eating issues. He's also the chief cook in our household who will take recipe requests!!
ReplyDeleteWe've had beautiful weather here in Toronto, it's fabulous!
Thanks for checking out my blog...
It sounds like your hubby is a keeper!! Thank you for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteMy first step-dad used to do this to my mom and I. We had weight issues. Well still do!!LOL Back when I was in high school..there would be like NO FOOD in the house. Then as soon as mom and I said we were going to go on a diet...all of a sudden there would be ice cream, cookies, bread, etc. in the house. How messed up is that?
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear that. That is crazy and sad.
